Why this matters
- We deliver several types of support, and our sister organisation Access Support delivers allied health. That creates potential conflicts of interest, and we manage them openly.
- Choice and control belong to the participant. We never require you to take more than one service from us.
What counts as a conflict
- Recommending our own services, or Access Support services, where another provider may suit you better.
- Providing support coordination while also delivering the supports being coordinated.
- Delivering SIL supports in an SDA dwelling where we have a commercial relationship with the property owner.
- Personal relationships, gifts, benefits or secondary employment that could influence a worker's decisions.
How we manage conflicts
- We disclose every relevant interest in writing before you sign a service agreement.
- Support coordination is kept operationally separate from service delivery, with separate staff and separate reporting lines wherever possible.
- Where we coordinate your plan, we present at least two or three alternative providers, including providers we have no relationship with.
- Our workers must not accept gifts or benefits that could influence, or appear to influence, their decisions, and must declare conflicts to their manager.
- Conflicts are recorded in a conflict of interest register that is reviewed by management and available to auditors.
Your choices
- You can choose a different provider at any time and we will help with the transition.
- You can ask for a different support coordinator, including one from another organisation.
- You can raise any concern about a conflict through our feedback and complaints process.
